Two-dimensional | Painting | Oils | on canvas

Painting created as an attempt to copy 'La Belle Ferronnière': a famous oil portrait attributed to Leonardo da Vinci. It depicts a lady, likely Lucrezia Crivelli (mistress of Ludovico Sforza), hangs in the Louvre, and is known for its realism and the subtle headband (ferronnière).

It was created as an exercise in the Sfumato technique. Sfumato is a painting technique from the Italian Renaissance, made famous by Leonardo da Vinci, in which colors and tones blend into one another so subtly that harsh lines and contours disappear.
